Forest Stewardship Leaders Visit Keauʻohana

Hawaii Environmental Restoration (HER) was honored to welcome participants from the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resilience (CTAHR)’s Forest Stewardship peer-to-peer learning program for an afternoon in the Keauʻohana Lowland Rainforest.

The group of forest landowners visited Keauʻohana to learn about community-based conservation and the ongoing work to restore and protect one of Hawaiʻi’s most important lowland rainforest ecosystems. During their visit, participants explored restoration areas and discussed the challenges and opportunities of caring for native forests in a changing landscape.

A highlight of the visit was sharing the story of how community members, volunteers, and partner organizations have come together to advance restoration, stewardship, and community resilience in Keauʻohana. The exchange of ideas and experiences underscored the value of peer-to-peer learning and the important role local communities play in protecting Hawaiʻi’s natural and cultural resources.

Mahalo to CTAHR and the Forest Stewardship Program participants for spending time with us and for their commitment to mālama ʻāina. Together, we are cultivating a stronger network of stewards working to restore and sustain Hawaiʻi’s forests for future generations.
