HER has expanded its breadth in recent years to supports a number of other restoration projects, and now helps steward several hundred acres of land in the Puna District of Hawai’i.
HER Homestead in Kapoho, developed over 34 years by president Jaya Dupuis, provides an example of sustainable living, hosting an abundance of foods, including over 50 different species of fruit trees, a rich selection of annual/perennial edible greens, and root crops.
Started in 2013, the Koa`e Native Restoration Nursery in Papaya Farms Road has been instrumental in seeding native diversity throughout Hawai`i Island. The brainchild of Ann Kobsa, this initiative benefits from 1600 sq. ft. of donated greenhouse space, tables, and irrigation water from a local benefactor.
Halepua`a Native Forest Restoration

Wai’ele PONC lands Stewardship
It is a privilege to take part in the stewardship of Wai`ele, a 156 acre coastal forest in Halepua`a ahupua`a containing extensive cultural landscape, village remnants, and sections of an ancient alanui i kahakai (major mauka/makai thoroughfare).
