OSCER Joins HER for a Day of Restoration at Keauʻohana — July 20
On Monday, July 20, 2026, Hawaiʻi Environmental Restoration welcomed seven staff members from the County of Hawaiʻi Office of Sustainability, Climate, Equity, and Resilience (OSCER) for a special restoration workday at Keauʻohana Lowland Rainforest.
Together, participants supported ongoing restoration efforts and cared for young native seedlings in the West Volunteer Area. The day provided OSCER staff with an opportunity to step away from their usual office-based responsibilities and connect directly with the land, the forest, and one another through meaningful hands-on work.
“The restoration work at HER is the kind of meaningful, place-based effort we want our team to be connected to and supportive of,” shared by Molly Dolphin, OSCER’s Education specialist and outreach coordinator.
The partnership reflects OSCER’s mission to strengthen Hawaiʻi Island’s self-reliance by connecting County departments and the community around sustainability, climate action, equity, and resilience. 
By participating in place-based restoration, the OSCER team put these values into practice while supporting the long-term health of one of Hawaiʻi Island’s remaining lowland native rainforests.
